EMSA is pleased to announce that we will be hosting a food drive for the month of March, which we are calling, “The EMSA Kicks Hunger Campaign”.
We are all aware of the current economic circumstances and the stress that the rising cost of food and housing has placed on many families across Canada. Statistics Canada reported a 9.7 % increase in the cost of food between April of 2021 and April of 2022. Closer to home, the Middlesex London Health Unit reports that in London and Middlesex, an estimated 1 in 7 households are food insecure. In short, families in our community are not immune to this problem.
As a part of this community, EMSA knows that we can assist our local food bank and families through this difficult time. If you are able to donate, we ask that you please drop off non-perishable food items to the BMO Centre, to assist with our campaign. Why not add some healthy competition and collect donations from your club or team and challenge another club or team to match yours.
Donations can be dropped off to the Donation Box which will be located under the stairwell at the Goodlife Field (Field 4) of the BMO Centre, commencing March 1, 2023. On April 1, 2023, all donations will be delivered to the London Food Bank. We will then notify our membership of the number of pounds of food that together, we were able to donate.
